Groundbreaking held for new Isaiah 117 House in Trenton
TRENTON, Tenn.–A groundbreaking was held Thursday for a house that could change the lives of children in West Tennessee.
It’s the future Isaiah 117 House in Trenton. Program coordinator Jennifer Milam says often times children who are removed from their home by the department of child services have to stay at a DCS office for hours or even days while they wait for foster placement with little to no belongings.
Isaiah 117 house will serve as a place for them to stay during that waiting period and get new clothes, with food to eat, a bed to sleep in, and be in a safe environment.
“There’s such a need our community is unaware of. So, I cannot wait to have this home for our children to make them feel loved and safe and it totally changes their start,” said Milam.
This home will serve children from Crockett, Gibson, and Dyer Counties.
As of now there is not an open date. Milam says that depends on the contractors.
