Unique dog show raises money for a good cause

JACKSON, Tenn. —Puppy owners from all over west Jackson gathered Sunday afternoon to show off their cute pups.

Pups for a Purpose, it’s a fundraising dog showing event put on by models of Lights, Camera, Fashion.

This is the first year that models have ever put this event on.

“Today, we are doing a dog show, which this is the first-ever dog show that models in LCF have ever done and it’s been a really big hit,” said Olivia Jones & Sadie Mae, Lights, Camera, Fashion model.

It is a requirement for all models in LCF to raise money for St. Jude.

Models and coordinators are hoping to beat last year’s amount.

“This past February, we were able to raise over 250,000 dollars for St. Jude, so we are hoping we can top that number this year,” said Jenna & Swayz King, producer of Lights, Camera, Fashion.

All money raised from this dog show goes towards St. Jude patients.

Man’s best friend were able to compete in seven different categories.

From Best in Show to Best Dressed, these dogs were all perfect.

Guests were able to help fundraise by bidding in Best Dog, silent auction, and buying a ticket for the door prizes.

This idea was possible because of models all sharing the common goal of loving dogs.

“We’ve always been a big animal family and no one’s ever done it, so I pushed in them and they were like let’s do it full force,” said Rylee Galyean & Sadie Mae, Lights, Camera, Fashion model.

Some dogs that were walked in the show were also up for adoption at one local animal shelter.

“So, we take animals from all kinds of situations, many of whom who have been abandoned. Some have owners that are overwhelmed and need some help. And then we spay and neuter them and get them all their vaccines and microchipped, get them all healthy and ready to be adopted in to great homes,” said Jennifer McBride & Dallas, president of Funny Farm Rescue Ranch.

This event was not possible without the help of other local businesses in the Hub City, who donated items for the door prize.

The K-9 unit also visited and had their dogs there to show off some of tricks.
