Victims identified in plane crash near West Tennessee airport

UPDATE (12/6/23): Report provides details in mid-November plane crash

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. — Officials have confirmed the identities of those killed in a fatal plane crash last week.

According to Don Coady, Airport Manager of Everett-Stewart Regional Airport in Obion County, the victims have been identified as Scott McDonald and Stan Hales.

On Wednesday, November 15, Tipsters alerted us to a small plane crash near the airport.

Coady told us the plane went down in the middle of a solar panel farm that is located near the runway.

According to preliminary information from the FAA, the aircraft was a single-engine XtremeAir XA42, and it crashed around 10:45 a.m., with two people on board.

The FAA confirms the National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation. According to the NTSB, a preliminary report will be released within 30 days of the accident, which will include factual information gathered during the initial phase of the investigation. NTSB says a probable cause of the crash, along with any contributing factors, will be detailed in the final report, which is expected in 12-24 months.

McDonald was a resident of Nevada, according to his obituary, who had a lifelong love of aviation. Hales was a member of the Australian Aerobatic Club, who shared on social media that he will be deeply missed.
