2nd Battle of the Burbs to be held by Jackson Juniorettes

JACKSON, Tenn. – Young women are stepping up to give back.

A non-profit group made up of Jackson area high school girls, the Jackson Juniorettes, are hosting the second annual Battle in the Burbs contest on December 16.

The event will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., and everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

Last year’s reigning subdivision, Wyndchase, will compete against Willow Green.

Votes can be cast for Final Fan Favorite Winner at the Cocoa Cove inside of Wyndchase.

You can also find the Juniorettes out in the community on December 2 and December 10, participating in random acts of kindness.

This is part of “rak’d,” which is a pay it forward movement.

The young women say they hope to ignite a fire of generosity throughout Jackson.

“Being surrounded by women in leadership who also love helping the community, it’s really important to me,” said Shelby Ballard, a 12th grade Juniorette.

“I think it’s really important to give to a community that gives to you. Being around people that are like minded is really important,” said Kailah Hamilton, a 12th grade Juniorette.

Money raised from the lighting contest goes to Madison County CASA.

CASA is made up of court appointed advocates who represent children that are in foster care.
