Bemis church continues years-long tradition of Thanksgiving meal deliveries
JACKSON, Tenn. — Bemis United Methodist Church in Bemis delivered Thanksgiving meals around the community Thursday morning.

This church has been a blessing with this free event for over 20 years.
There were over 20 members working tirelessly to prepare meals for those who need it.
Not only did they prepare the food, but they also delivered the meals.
We spoke with Reverend Donald Carver, their newly appointed pastor for four months, and he stated that they are trying to reach as many people as they can.

“Our vision is to build relationships with the community, let them know that we are here to help them and reach out,” Carver said.
The Bemis church managed to reach several places in the community, such as New Southern Apartments, Rosewood Gardens, McMillan Towers, Allenton Heights, and Turning Point Men’s Ministry.
“Just to see how excited all of these people are to come and do this and be a blessing, so we just want to be a blessing to the community,” said Carver.
Reverend Carver also stated that so far, the church has prepared 366 meals, and that people were still calling in to place an order.

Reverend Carver also feels excited about growing his youth department.
“Youth are inviting others, and I think that might be a niche for Bemis,” said Carver.
Members of the church also stated that this is one of their favorite holidays, just because they get to serve others.
Also, be on the lookout for their food and clothes distribution that they do every year.
