Councilman, local church join to host Thanksgiving luncheon in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Happiness is not only an emotion, but it’s a feeling.

One local church allowed the community to not only look happy, but feel happy in their stomachs.

Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church fed over 300 people Thursday morning.

Members of the church came together to make meals to send out to families who are less fortunate this season.

Plates were loaded into a van and sent to places such as the Department of Children’s Services, McMillan Towers, and Centennial Place.

Councilman Johnny Dodd stated that his title means nothing to him, but that his purpose is to give back and to serve others.

“To see what people go through every day, I want to make sure the next person is happy,” Dodd said. “Whether I’m happy or not, if I can make you happy and put a smile on your face, then that’s what makes me happy.”

Mt. Moriah would also like to thank Capital City and TLM Associates for their willingness to sponsor them.
