Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels tradition continues for Gibson County seniors

BRADFORD, Tenn. — Local officials, motorcycle enthusiasts, and volunteers alike came together Thursday to bring a smile to faces across one local county.

Gibson County’s 31st Annual Meals on Wheels was held Thanksgiving morning.

Volunteers came together to prepare meals for home-bound senior citizens across Gibson County, who otherwise wouldn’t have a Thanksgiving meal.

The meals included turkey and dressing, along with all the trimmings.

Bradford Mayor Dwayne Reynolds says it takes lots of volunteers and hard work to make things like this happen.

“So many wonderful volunteers,” Mayor Reynolds said. “People come together through not only the city, but the county as a whole comes together to prepare these meals each and every year. Which takes them a major amount of work that starts well before Thanksgiving day.”

“There are a lot of seniors that are home alone on Thanksgiving, when we’re blessed to be with our family and friends on Thanksgiving, and we just wanna put a smile on their face and let them know that we are thinking about them,” said Pam Dethloff, Director of the Gibson County Office on Aging.

Once the meals were prepared, they were delivered via local motorcycle clubs to each senior’s door.
