Ballet Arts prepares for its latest production

JACKSON, Tenn.—“No one to impress, nothing to lose. But the poor tell stories too.”

Get ready for the time of your life because they are about to take flight.

Ballet Arts gave WBBJ-7 Eyewitness News a sneak peek of the costumes they will display for the upcoming show “The Nutcracker.”

This is the 42nd year that Ballet Arts has put on this production.

The costume mistress stated that creating costumes takes love and consideration because there is so much movement.

With the help of 17 volunteers, some who are parents of the participants, Ballet Arts will have 197 costumes completed for the show.

“Being a member of Ballet Arts for the last 8 years has been a really special experience. I’ve had such a good time dancing with these girls and performing in this show,” said Margaret Peeples, Senior/Homeschooled.

“One day when I was like 10, I dreamed of being in this part, so now that I’m here, it makes me want to keep reaching for one last year,” said Makenzie Winters, Junior/Early College High.

“The Nutcracker” will premiere at the Carl Perkins Civic Center on December 8 and 9 at 7 pm and again on Sunday, December 10 at 2 pm.
