Church fundraiser aims to help families in need this holiday season

HENDERSON, Tenn.—A local church spends their holiday giving back to the youth.

Henderson Church of God were stationed at Cashsaver in Henderson to present their Toy and Food Drive. This allows community members to bring donations such as food, clothes and toys and drop them in the box to help families in need.

Signs were posted on the store doors, as well as angels set up at every register for those who wanted to donate money instead of items. All of the donations will go toward the families and children in the Chester County Angel Tree program.

We spoke with the Outreach Coordinator, Sheila Taylor, who stated that this is what makes her smile from the inside out.

“This is the world to me. This is my Christmas. I don’t have to have anything else, as long as I make these kids and these families happy,” Taylor said.

Taylor wants as many people as possible that can help her with the Angel Trees to participate in this great event.

“We have Angel Trees up at City Hall. We have Angel Trees at Child Wagon,” Taylor said.

Not only can you drop items off at Cashsaver, but roasted beans in Jackson and Lucky Duck in Henderson also have donation boxes.

Taylor wanted it to be known that this is separate from RIFA. This comes specifically from Henderson Church of God.

Taylor also stated that children still have the opportunity to be a recipient of these donations.

“Applications’ last day are November 30 at 6 pm, so we need you to get those applications in, “Taylor said.

Taylor will be back at Cashsaver on December 9 to offer another opportunity for residents to help needy families.

Taylor also stated that if everyone had the same mindset to help someone, many needs would be met in the world.
