Local holiday market raises money for St. Jude

JACKSON, Tenn.—Amelia Earhart once said, “A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.”

One young lady steps up and grows her roots in a major way.

Harlei McClintock is a high school student and model for Lights, Camera, Fashion, which is the biggest fundraiser in West Tennessee.

This is Harlei’s first Holiday Mart. This mart is different because some of the proceeds go to those in need at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Harlei understands the struggles that families go through when they have a sick child, and she wants to make a difference in their lives.

“It is important to raise money for St. Jude because this allows families and the children to go home without a bill,” McClintock said.

Although this is Harlei’s last year in LCF, she plans to help the young ladies that come in behind her.

“I do plan next year, to help raise money for St. Jude and give it back to the models that are in Lights, Camera, Fashion next year,” McClintock said.

Last year, Harlei raised over $17,000 for St. Jude and this year, she plans to top that.

Harlei also has a special Bingo Night that she started last year. During that event, she received close to $5,000 for St. Jude. Harlei wants everyone to come out to participate in the next Bingo Night.

“We will have our 2nd annual Bingo Night at Brenda’s Kitchen in Henderson. We are going to have a good time and we are going to have so many door prizes and bingo,” McClintock said.

Harlei stated that a scavenger hunt will also be included and that all of these details are on Facebook @HarleiMcClintock.

Out of all the things a young lady could be doing, this one chooses to be aware of others’ problems and be selfless.

Harlei would like to thank Sweet Graces, Lilly Bugs, Woodstock, Liberty Farm and Auna’s Sourdough Bread for participating in this event.
