Armed robbery suspect shot by witness at Memphis Dollar General
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspected robber is dead after being shot at a Memphis Dollar General.
According to the Memphis Police Department, around 10:34 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers responded to an armed robbery at the store, located at 6770 Winchester Road.
The department shared that preliminary information indicates three armed suspects were robbing the business.
According to Memphis Police, a person observed the robbery in progress and fired a shot, striking one of the suspects, and the remaining two suspects fled the scene.
The injured suspect was transported to a nearby hospital and later died, police confirm.
Police say after a brief investigation, a second suspect was detained, and a third suspect still remains at large.
According to police, the shooter was detained at the scene, but no charges have been filed.
An investigation remains ongoing.
