Warmer on Wednesday, Rain Showers & Few Storms Back Thursday
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Temperatures have fallen down to the low to mid 20s at 9:30pm tonight. We might drop another couple degrees before we start to warm back a bit overnight in Wednesday morning as southwest winds return to West Tennessee. A nice warm up is coming on Wednesday and rain returns on Thursday. There could be a shot for a couple of storms Thursday night into Friday morning but our severe weather threat looks low. We will have the latest on one more cold night, the warm up and chances for showers, all coming up right here.
TONIGHT:
It was another frosty start to the day on Tuesday in West Tennessee. We saw another cold Tuesday across the Mid South with highs only reaching the mid 40s. No one in West Tennessee saw temperatures over 50°. Skies remained sunny and the winds were around 10 MPH and came out of the northwest. The winds will slowly shift to the southwest overnight helping to keep out temperatures in the upper 20s instead of the low 20s tonight. Skies will remain clear and temperatures may slowly warm up between midnight and 6am due to the southwest winds.

WEDNESDAY:
The winds are going to change direction on Wednesday morning back to the southwest as an area of high pressure will begin to move to the south of us. This will warm the Mid South back up to around 60° with many of us reaching the upper 50s into the afternoon. Skies will remain sunny but some clouds may try to build back in late in the day but overall expect a mostly sunny day. Wednesday night lows will drop down to the upper 30s or around 40° to start our Thursday.

THURSDAY:
Thursday will start out nice but chances for showers will increase into the afternoon and evening hours. Rain showers and maybe a few storms will be likely overnight into Friday morning. A few gusty storms will be possible but it doesn’t appear to be a severe weather event for us as of now. Highs on Thursday will reach the upper 50s and Thursday night lows will drop into the mid 40s. The winds are expected to come out of the south most of the day. Clouds will increase as the morning goes on and expect an overall mostly cloudy day and a cloudy night. Chances for rain Thursday night is 80%.

FRIDAY:
Rain showers are coming on Friday and most of West Tennessee will pick up between 1/2″ and 1″ of rain before the showers clear out Friday morning or afternoon at the latest. Friday will be a warm and slightly humid day with highs reaching the mid 60s. A few storms could develop into the morning and afternoon hours but we are NOT expecting them to be overly impressive as of now. Friday night lows will fall down to the mid 40s to kick off your weekend. The winds will come out of the southwest but will change overnight back to the northeast behind the front. Chances for rain on Friday sits at 60%.

THE WEEKEND:
After Friday’s system moves out, we are going to only have about 24 hours to prepare for the next shot for rain showers as a low pressure system will move back in during the second half of the weekend bringing a chance for another round of showers with it. Saturday looks to be mostly dry but it depends on if Friday’s system stalls out and if Sunday’s system shows up earlier than expected. The winds will come out of the northeast on Saturday but transition to the southeast as Sunday’s system moves through. Highs on Saturday are forecast back up to around 60° and Sunday highs will reach the mid 60s. Morning lows will hang around the mid 40s to kick off both days. Chances for rain on Sunday only sit at 30% and some rain may linger into Monday morning as well but we are currently not expecting much.
NEXT WEEK:
Next week looks to start out quite normal for the first week of December. Highs will make it in the mid 50s and morning lows will drop in the upper 30s to low 40s. Skies will be partly cloudy on Monday but mostly sunny skies should return by Tuesday. Rain chances will to stay away for most of the week. Temperatures will look to warm back up above normal conditions by the middle and back half of the week with southerly winds returning.
FINAL THOUGHT:
Monday was the coldest day in Jackson since last winter (March 17th) and we saw another cold day on Tuesday. Warmer weather will return in the middle of the week and last into the weekend. Some good soaking rain looks to be on the way to wrap up the work week and another round looks possible for the weekend. We really need the rain as extreme drought conditions still impact most of West Tennessee. Stay with WBBJ this week as the systems get closer just in case we see a potential thunderstorm situation shows up with the rain.
