Authorities arrest convicted felon wanted for federal weapons charges
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Local authorities arrest a convicted felon wanted for federal weapons charges.
According to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force (28th, 29th, 30th Districts), on Tuesday, agents with the 28th District, assisted by the Brownsville Police Department, observed an armed person wanted for federal weapons charges.
The Task Force says as agents attempted to stop the suspect, he fled into a nearby home.
According to the Task Force, the suspect was taken into custody without incident, and agents recovered a “fully automatic AR pistol” equipped with a drum magazine, multiple armor piercing bullets (described as “cop killers” by the Task Force), and a mesh brass bag commonly used to collect spent brass being discharged from a weapon.
Additionally, the Task Force says agents recovered a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun that was loaded.
The Task Force confirms the suspect, who is a previously convicted felon, was arrested on the warrant, along with numerous new felony weapons charges.
Authorities have not shared the identity of the suspect at this time.
