After one more chilly start we warmed up nicely across West Tennessee up to 60° Wednesday. We will stay dry tonight with a light breeze. Rain showers are going to be returning Thursday evening and some heavy rain and possible storms will move through Thursday night into early Friday morning. We are not expecting severe weather but some lightning and gusty winds will be possible with some of the stronger cells. A wind advisory also goes into effect Thursday night. Warmer weather will look to be sticking around into the weekend too. Catch the latest timing and find out who is most likely to be impacted by the potential storms coming up here.

TONIGHT:

The winds changed direction on Wednesday morning back to the southwest as an area of high pressure is moving to the south of us. This warmed the Mid South back up to around 60° with many of us reaching the low 60s into the afternoon. Skies were mostly sunny but some clouds may try to build back in later tonight before becoming thick by Thursday afternoon. Wednesday night lows will drop down to the upper 30s or around 40° to start our Thursday.

THURSDAY:

Thursday will start out nice but chances for showers will increase into the afternoon and evening hours. Rain showers  and maybe a few storms will be likely overnight into Friday morning. A few gusty storms will be possible but it doesn’t appear to be a severe weather event for us as of now. Highs on Thursday will reach the upper 50s and Thursday night lows will drop into the mid 40s. The winds are expected to come out of the south most of the day. Clouds will increase as the morning goes on and expect an overall mostly cloudy day and a cloudy night. FRIDAY:

Rain showers will linger early Friday and most of West Tennessee will pick up between 1/2″ and 1″ of rain before the showers clear out Friday morning or afternoon at the latest. Friday will be a warm and slightly humid day with highs reaching the mid 60s. A few storms could develop into the morning and early afternoon hours but we are NOT expecting them to be overly impressive as of now. Friday night lows will fall down to the mid 40s to kick off your weekend. The winds will come out of the southwest but will change overnight back to the northeast behind the front. Chances for rain on Friday sits at 60%.

THE WEEKEND:

After Friday’s system moves out, we are going to only have about 24 hours to prepare for the next shot for rain showers as a low pressure system will move back in during the second half of the weekend bringing a chance for another round of showers with it. Saturday looks to be mostly dry but it depends on if Friday’s system stalls out and if Sunday’s system shows up earlier than expected.  The winds will come out of the northeast on Saturday but transition to the southeast as Sunday’s system moves through. Highs on Saturday are forecast back up to around 60° and Sunday highs will reach the mid 60s. Morning lows will hang around the mid 40s to kick off both days. Chances for rain on Sunday only sit at 30% and some rain may linger into Monday morning as well but we are currently not expecting much.

NEXT WEEK:

Next week looks to start out quite normal for the first week of December. Highs will make it in the mid 50s and morning lows will drop in the upper 30s to low 40s. Skies will be mostly sunny on Monday but partly cloudy skies should return by Tuesday. There looks to be a front on the way for Tueseday but the timing and expected impacts from that system are sketchy at best as of now. Rain chances will to stay away for most of the week. Temperatures will cool down a bit on Tuesday but will look to warm back up above normal conditions again during the back half of the work week with southerly winds returning.

FINAL THOUGHT:

Tuesday was the coldest day in Jackson since last winter (March 17th) and we saw another cold start to our Wednesday. Warmer weather will return in the middle of the week and last into the weekend. Some good soaking rain looks to be on the way to wrap up the work week and another round looks possible for the weekend. We really need the rain as extreme drought conditions still impact most of West Tennessee. Stay with WBBJ this week as the systems get closer just in case we see a potential thunderstorm situation shows up with the rain.
