Local Christmas tree farm opens for the season
BEECH BLUFF, Tenn. — Oh what fun it is to pick out a Christmas tree! One couple continues a family tradition and visits a Christmas tree farm in West Tennessee.
Ward Grove Christmas Tree Farm in Beech Bluff is open and ready for families to come make memories.
That’s what Buddy and Lassie Kiser did Thursday afternoon.
“Been a lot of stuff going on the last few days, so I decided to brighten things up and we’re gonna come over here and get us a Christmas tree a little early,” Buddy said.
Lassie says she found the perfect tree after looking over many choices.
“Well I have a certain look I want, so it took me a little bit to find it,” Lassie said. “I wanted one that was really round at the bottom, and has the perfect Christmas tree shape, and has a nice top to it so I can put my angel on top of it.”
Ward Grove Christmas Tree Farm is over 40 acres, and currently, 20 acres are planted in white pine and Virginia pine, a couple of favorite picks of the season.
“So the pines have longevity, so they retain the needles for a long time, they have a real soft touch, they’re nice and smelly,” said tree farmer Robbie Knight. “They smell like Christmas and they’ve just been a traditional Christmas tree.”
Once the Kisers picked out the perfect tree, it was cut, spruced and loaded up to take home.
“So this is like our fourth or fifth year to come and get a Christmas tree from the Wards. It’s a perfect place to walk, and they don’t get no better than coming here in this rockin’ chair and that fire going, I mean it just don’t get no better. Very gracious people and very helpful, so yeah, we love coming out here.”
Christmas tree, check — wreath, check — now for the Kisers.
“Go home and get me a cup of coffee, decorate, and she’s gonna decorate, yep,” Buddy said.
Ward Grove Christmas Tree Farm is open Thursday through Sunday, located at 20 Ward Road in Beech Bluff.
