Rain & Wind Coming Tonight, Few Storms Possible
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
The rain showers have moved into West Tennessee and will continue overnight before tapering off around sunrise. A widespread 1/2″ of rain will be on the way with some folks picking up closer to an inch. A few weak storms will be possible. It will be breezy most of the night as well. The winds through are going to be intense tonight becoming sustained over 15 MPH and gusts as high as 30 MPH into Friday morning. The winds will stick around into the day on Friday. We will be tracking the radar tonight and have an hour by hour breakdown of the storm system coming up here.

TONIGHT:
Thursday started out nice but rain showers will increase into evening hours and get heavy at times overnight. Rain showers and maybe a few storms will likely continue overnight into Friday morning. A few gusty storms will be possible but it doesn’t appear to be a severe weather event for us as of now. Highs on Thursday reached the upper 50s and Thursday night lows will drop into the mid 40s.

Clouds will increase as the morning goes on and expect an overall mostly cloudy day and a cloudy night. Chances for rain Thursday night is 100%. The winds are expected to continue to come out of the south tonight and will be increasing in speed. We could be looking at sustained winds over 20 MPH with some gusts reaching as high as 40 MPH. The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a wind advisory tonight from 10pm through Friday morning for all of West Tennessee.

FRIDAY:
The winds will remain gusty in the morning and come out of the southwest but will change direction overnight back to the northeast behind the front and weaken as the night goes on. Rain showers will linger early Friday and most of West Tennessee will pick up between 1/2″ and 1″ of rain before the showers clear out Friday mid morning at the latest. Chances for rain Friday morning sits at 60%. A few weak storms could develop into the morning and early afternoon hours but we are NOT expecting them to be overly impressive if we encounter any storms at all.

Friday will be a warm and slightly humid day with highs reaching the mid 60s. Some of us have a chance of getting close to 70° depending on when the sun comes out in the afternoon or early evening hours or not. Friday night lows will fall down to the mid 40s to kick off your weekend.
THE WEEKEND:
After Friday’s system moves out, we are going to only have about 24 hours to prepare for the next shot for rain showers as a low pressure system will move back in during the second half of the weekend bringing a chance for another round of showers with it. Saturday looks to be mostly dry but it depends on if Friday’s system stalls out and if Sunday’s system shows up earlier than expected. The winds will come out of the northeast on Saturday but transition to the southeast as Sunday’s system moves through. Highs will make it up to around 60° and morning lows will hang around the mid 40s both mornings but may drop down to around 40° late Sunday night. Chances for rain on Sunday only sit at 30% and some rain may linger into Monday morning as well but we are currently not expecting much.
NEXT WEEK:
Next week looks to start out quite normal for the first week of December. Highs will make it up to the upper 50s on Monday and likely be warmer on Tuesday. Morning lows will drop down to around 40° late Sunday night into Monday morning and fall to around 40° again Monday night. Skies will be mostly sunny on Monday but a few more clouds should return by Tuesday as a weak front will pass late in the day. The front on the way for Tuesday doesn’t look very impressive as of now but the timing and expected impacts from that system are still trying to be determined in the 7 Storm Team Weather Center. Rain chances will look to stay away for most of the week. Temperatures will cool down a bit during the middle of the week but will look to warm back up above normal conditions again during the end of the work week with southerly winds returning by Thursday.
FINAL THOUGHT:
Tuesday was the coldest day in Jackson since last winter (March 17th) and we saw another cold start to our Wednesday. Warmer weather returned in the middle of the week and will last into the weekend. Some good soaking rain looks to be on the way Thursday night and linger into Friday morning but it is going to be windy in the meantime. We really need the rain as extreme drought conditions still impact most of West Tennessee. Stay with WBBJ this week as the systems get closer just in case we see a potential thunderstorm situation shows up with the rain.
