Falcon Ridge offers families a fun holiday tradition

TOONE, Tenn.—Some say… farms make the world go round and one local farm is spreading holiday cheer for the community.

Falcon Ridge opened their farm today for families to choose a Christmas tree.

This is the 12th year of this event and the owner, Bart Gilmer, doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

As a matter of fact, the community loves him and he loves to see their happy faces.

“We’ve been doing it long enough now, where some of the ones that came when they were kids are starting to have kids of their own now, and coming back. So we love to see that as well,” Gilmer said.

While others may just look at it as an occupation, this isn’t just a job to Gilmer, but it’s something that makes him happy.

“We love farming and love family traditions. The two just kind of came together. One of our favorite things that we do around the farm, because it is something that people do as a family and make a tradition out of it,” Gilmer said.

Guests also have the option to cut down their own tree of choice or receive assistance from one of the workers.

A petting zoo filled with animals such as pigs, horses and baby goats is also available for families to walk through and feed.

A playground area and a wagon ride to get to the trees is also available.

Gilmer stated that they have had to make arrangements for certain trees that customers wanted because of the weather in the last 12 months.

“A little tight on trees this year, so if you’re headed this way, it’s not a bad idea to give us a call and make sure we’ve got what you’re looking for,” Gilmer said.

Although they are open seasonally, Gilmer makes sure to stay involved with the community by having events that kids and families will enjoy.

“We do an Easter egg hunt in the spring, we grow and sell strawberries later in the spring as well, and we do a pumpkin patch in the fall,” Gilmer said.

Gilmer’s compassion goes a long way and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

The price of admission is free to enter the farm for Christmas trees.
