Humboldt’s ‘Christmas on Main’ returns this Thursday

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — The City of Humboldt and the Chamber of Commerce are hosting ‘Christmas on Main’ this Thursday.

This free, family-friendly event will be held downtown from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Many stations will be set up and business will participate as well, so that everyone can have something to engage in.

We spoke with the Executive Director of Humboldt Chamber of Commerce, Amanda Love, who stated that she cannot wait to see what this year holds in store.

“We will start off with letters to Santa and allow the kiddos — it’s a kids event mainly. The kiddos will get to make reindeer food and they’ll write letters to Santa,” Love explained.

A photo booth with Santa inside will be present, as well as hot chocolate, popcorn and many other goodies.

Love stated that this event started out as Christmas in the Park to help to help underprivileged children, and switched to the street in 2017.

“Through the years, unfortunately the need for the children grew greater, and our budget didn’t, so we switched and moved it to Main Street and it has become an event for everyone,” said Love.

Love also stated that even though their city isn’t that large, they still do their best to show up in a huge way, making an impact on the community.

“We’re a small town, there’s not a lot to do sometimes, and you feel like the City or the Chamber or no one is paying attention to you, and we are,” Love said. “We want to have these events to keep people in Humboldt and give you something to do.”

The Christmas on Main event will be held on Main Street on Thursday, December 7.

“Christmas on Main at the Movies” will follow on December 9 at the Humboldt Plaza 3 theater.
