Ronald Everett Woods
Ronald Everett Woods, age 89, well-known community leader, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Haywood Community Hospital in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Stanton Methodist Church with Bro. John Banks officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Stanton Methodist Church.
Ronald was born on October 10, 1934, in Memphis, TN to Malcolm Everett Woods and Marie Jones Woods. He worked in Haywood County as a farmer. He loved agriculture, farming, and the outdoors. He took great pride in farming with his sons. He served on the Haywood County Commission, District 8 for 24 years. He served on the Haywood County Soil Conservation Board for 15 years. He served on the board of the Haywood County Co-op, Mid-South Co-op, and 7 years on the TN Farmers Co-op, serving as chairman his last year. He also served on the Tennessee Soybean Promotion Board for 6 years. He loved Joyner’s Campground, reading, and he loved the Lord and his church, Stanton Methodist Church, where he was a member for 68 years. Family was important to him, and he found great joy in spending time together. He was blessed with a loving and caring family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcom Everett Woods and Marie Jones Woods; one son, Clyde Woods; one sister, Elaine Naifeh and one son-in-law, Miller Dent.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hobby Woods of Stanton, TN; one son, Everett Woods, Jr. (Amy) of Stanton, TN; one daughter, Rhonda Woods Dent of Bolton, MS; one sister, Barbara Ann Coulston (Lawrence Dennis) of Mason, TN; and one daughter-in-law, Paige Woods. He leaves behind a great legacy of love for his 8 grandchildren, Charles Woods (Katie), Mary Nelle Jones (Michael), Wellons Farmer (Scott), Rett Woods (Alex), Rachel Woods, McKenzie Peeler (Huffman), Jeb Woods (Kendall), Woods Dent, and his 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service will be Charles Woods, Woods Dent, Michael Jones, Scott Farmer, Huffman Peeler, Rett Woods, Jeb Woods, and Gerald Woods.
The family has requested memorials be made to Stanton Methodist Church, c/o Katie Woods, P.O. Box 39, Stanton, TN 38069 or to Joyner’s Campground, c/o Virginia Ann Walker, 3690 Yum Yum Rd, Somerville, TN 38068. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
