Scouts and former troop leaders help to improve lake area
HUMBOLDT, Tenn.—Former Boy Scout Troop 53 leaders and Eagle Scouts got together Saturday morning to complete a five year collaboration between them and the TWRA.
The goal was to revamp the 3.5 mile hiking trail around Davy Crockett Lake located just outside of Humboldt.
Today they finished the last of six bridges built by the troop.
This partnership resulted in eight Eagle Scout projects that included not only the bridges but benches along the trail, tree and animal identification markers, trail markers, and bat boxes.
Greg Emison, former Scoutmaster of the troop tells us the motivation behind the project.
“We wanted to make this an educational hike, so all the residents from surrounding cities and counties could come and learn a little bit about the outdoors,” said Greg Emison, Former Boy Scout Troop #53 Leader.
The troop was excited to see the conclusion of this project. Their hopes are that visitors will enjoy the now completed trail around the lake.
