One resident showcases a light show for neighbors to see

THREE WAY, Tenn.– Danny Wade is a resident in Three Way that has been putting up Christmas lights for years now.

Wade says he began this after his children went to college and setting up lights soon became a tradition for him.

“I saw the videos and stuff online of the music shows and I thought that’s what I want to do,” Wade said.

The lights are synched to 10 different songs and are programmed by nine different controllers.

He also mentioned that setting up this light show is a three man job and time intensive.

“The set up is pretty intense. I usually start around Halloween and, for my big mega tree I have to get my 2 sons to come over and help me,” he shared.

Setting the lights outside isn’t the hardest part, it’s having the music and the lights synch up that is the problem.

“They say it takes about 8 hours to program 15 seconds of a song. I think it takes a lot longer than that and my light show has about 33,000 lights,” Wade said.

Although this isn’t a neighborhood contest, Wade looks for different ways to make each year better.

This year he added a new light fixture that looks similar to sun rays and added a lighted forest to the side.

“It’s just the labor of love. I enjoy doing it just for people to come by and enjoy it,” Wade explained.

Neighbors can turn their radios to FM 96.3 and listen to music while the lights dance.

“A lot of people will drive by all the time. They just park out in the road and just sit and listen to the music and look at the lights,” Wade mentioned.

He is now working on adding one song before Christmas arrives.

If you’d like to see the display for yourself, it’s located at 95 Green Road in Three Way.
