Woman arrested after 1,000s of pills reported missing by local medical provider
UPDATE (12/11/23): Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box confirms the identity of the suspect as Amy Childress.
FROM THE WEST TENNESSEE DRUG TASK FORCE – 28th, 29th, 30th DISTRICTS:
Agents with the 29th District out of Dyersburg were called to assist a local medical provider after the discovery of thousands of missing controlled substances from the business.
An investigation showed that during a 5-6 month period, an employee stole approximately 2,500 – 2mg Xanax, 1,200 – 1mg xanax, 100 Hydrocodone tablets and a yet to be determined amount of tramodol tablets. All are controlled substances.
Internal audits by the business caught the discrepancy and led them to notify the Drug Task Force. Evidence quickly led Agents to a lone female suspect.
Agents obtained an arrest warrant for felony prescription fraud and arrested the suspect as she showed up for work this morning.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected to be filed soon.
Agents were assisted in the investigation by the Counterdrug Task Force.
The office of Danny Goodman, Jr. District Attorney General, 29th Judicial District is prosecuting this case.
