Betty Jean Modglin

Betty Jean Modglin, age 96, passed away peacefully from this life on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, TN.  The family has chosen cremation and no services are scheduled at the present time.

Betty was born on January 30, 1927, in Murphysboro, IL.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family.  She loved her family and was blessed with a family who loved her dearly.  She loved life, she loved people, and she never met a stranger.  She enjoyed gardening and enjoyed working on her family history and genealogy.

She is survived by one son, Mark Gerald Modglin (Debra) of Stanton, TN; one sister, Geraldine Don of Farming, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Jennifer Wortham, Amanda Davis, Johnny Modglin, Lesa Eddlemon, Nancy Swarthout, and Holly Jones; 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Modglin; father, Lloyd Nausley; mother, Golda Leola Rains Nausley Crisler; stepfather, Gerald Crisler; son, John Michael Modglin; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jones; sister, Juanita Hall, and two grandchildren, Lori Bishop and David Jones.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
