LOLO’s holiday concert lifts spirits in the Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn.—What better way to celebrate Christmas than with a few tunes and friends.
One event brought out a crowd to support the community.
Regional Interfaith Association hosted their 8th annual LOLO Christmas Show at Hub City Brewing.
LOLO, a Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and Broadway star, created this event because of her love for her hometown.
Denice Walton, the community relations manager for RIFA, stated that she loves LOLO’s willingness to help.
“She has a passion for the Snack Backpack Program for RIFA and we are so grateful. Each year she does this for a fundraiser,” said Denise Walton, Donor and Community Relations Manager, RIFA.
This program is specifically for Madison county kids.
“Every Friday, we send home almost 1,400 bags of food for kiddos, elementary kids who otherwise would not have food in their home to eat,” Walton said.
This event is sponsored by Delta Faucet, Hub City Blueprint, Hub City Brewing, Jackson-Madison County School System, Lonnie Cobb’s Old Country Auto, Lonnie Cobb’s Ford, and many other companies in the city.
Some of the sponsors were even present to enjoy the event.
“Without them this event would not be possible. We are so so grateful for the partnerships of those in our community who come alongside us in the fight against hunger,” Walton said.
Food was catered at the event by Gary Clover of Jackson’s Kitchen and Catering.
Along with LOLO, there were other featured performers such as Hub City Mass Choir, Emily McGill, The Jukes, Vonda Peete and many more.
A live auction was held today for a 7 day stay in a condo in Ft. Lauderdale and there will be more tomorrow.
“Tomorrow we have a live auction of tickets for the Grizzlies, so it’s just a lot of fun, a big event,” Walton said.
Walton stated that she is so happy that the event has continued to evolve throughout the years.
“We are so incredibly grateful for LOLO and all she does for our community but we are so grateful that she loves RIFA and that the Snack Backpack Program is near and dear to her heart,” Walton said.
Free brunch was served at 11 am and the concert event was immediately after.
