Milan woman arrested on attempted murder charge after stabbing fiancé, report shows
MILAN, Tenn. — A Milan woman is behind bars facing an attempted murder charge.
According to an incident report by the Milan Police Department, 25-year-old Caylie Parkerson was arrested Sunday morning on charges of attempted second degree murder and tampering with evidence.
The report states that shortly after 1 a.m. on December 17, an officer was dispatched to the Milan E.R. in reference to a stabbing victim. According to the report, the officer observed a large stab wound on the victim’s chest, along with another stab wound on his back. The report states he was later airlifted to The Med in Memphis.
The report states the victim advised that he was stabbed during an argument with a group of unknown males at Milan City Park, while he had been parked there with his “wife,” which the report identifies as his fiancé, Parkerson.
According to the report, Parkerson later admitted to police that she had stabbed the victim during an argument at their residence on Telecom Drive. The report states Parkerson claimed that she and her fiancé got into a physical altercation while in the company of their newborn baby, which led Parkerson to get a knife from the kitchen.
The report states Parkerson advised police she did not intend to actually strike her fiancé with the knife, claiming she only meant to swing it at him – however she advised that she did stab him in the chest, and once again in the back as he ran for the front door.
According to the report, Parkerson later drove her fiancé to the E.R. and then left the hospital. The report states that Parkerson advised police that she cleaned up the crime scene by cleaning the blood off the countertop and the knife, and placed the knife back in its original position.
The report states a thorough investigation determined Parkerson was the primary aggressor in this incident.
According to records available online, Parkerson was booked into the Gibson County Jail on Sunday morning and currently remains in custody.
Booking details shared by Milan Police show a bond for the attempted murder charge set at $75,000.
Parkerson has a court appearance scheduled in Milan City Court on January 10, 2024.
