Salvation Army begins week with annual Angel Tree program
JACKSON, Tenn. – Angel Tree at the Salvation Army, a program intended to help families, spread some Christmas joy to start the week.
In the fall, this ministry is set up at different locations, such as Kroger, The Lift, and Walmart.
Community members get to shop for kids and help to make every child’s Christmas bright.
The plan is to make sure that every home has a fair amount of their needs provided this season.
Monday morning the group gathered to deliver those toys to the families in need.
“You know, I think every kid should wake up on Christmas morning with the joy and hope that Christmas brings. And kids always know Christmas time is coming, right? Like people say, ‘Oh. Well, it’s just presents.’ Or whatever. But when you go on that Christmas break when you’re a kid, you know, it’s Christmas time. You know you’re going to come back to school and there’s going to be other kids who’ve gotten new stuff, and you’d want to be part of that too,” said Emily Ricket, the Angel Tree Coordinator.
