CASA accepting Christmas gift donations for kids
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – A local organization is taking donations to help local families have a great Christmas.
Madison County CASA, or court-appointed special advocates, has already begun distributing gifts to children going through abuse and neglect cases. But organizers say they could always use some more.
CASA trains community volunteers to be advocates for children involved in the Department of Children Services’ abuse and neglect cases to give those children advocates during their time with the juvenile court.
CASA Executive Director, Hannah Snowden says they are always looking for volunteers as well.
“The only thing that we really require is that they be willing to submit to a background check. We are working with children. And that they be at least 21 years of age. And that they be willing to go through training,” Snowden said.
If you would like to donate to help local children have a great Christmas, you have through Thursday to drop off donations or items at the juvenile court at 110 Irby Street in Jackson.
If you would like to become an advocate, you can fill out an application online.
