As Holiday Hero Blood Drive ends, the need for blood remains
JACKSON, Tenn. – Thursday evening was the last chance to score some awesome incentives for giving blood in the Hub City.
LIFELINE Blood Services held their annual Holiday Hero Blood Drive and said they need all superheroes to donate.
“We are in need of all blood types currently, but we have an immediate need of type O- and we are letting everyone know if you are type O-, don’t wait. This is your sign that you are needed,” said Melinda Reid, the Marketing Manager for LIFELINE Blood Services.
On Thursday, donors were able to win prizes from gift cards to TVs. However, if you still want to donate there is time.
“Coming up in January we will have our New Year, New You themed blood drive. So we will be talking about that closer to date. And we are closed on Christmas Day, but you can come on in and donate Saturday. We are open from nine to six. Walk-ins are always welcomed,” Reid said.
Donating doesn’t always have to be for the prizes in some cases. It just feels good to help others.
“However, when you donate and give the gift of life, it’s such a great feeling that your impact is local. And the need for blood never stops, it never slows down. It cannot be manufactured or produced. So whenever you donate blood you truly are a hero,” Reid said.
Reid also shares that there will be a special themed blood drive in the near future, so stay tuned to their social media page.
Thursday was the last day for the Holiday Hero contest, but giving blood makes you a hero every day.
