Henderson County to get $580K for communication tower site
The following is a news release from the State of Tennessee:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Reps. Brock Martin, R-Huntingdon, and Kirk Haston, R-Lobelville, today announced a $580,803 grant for a communication tower site from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).
Lexington received the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to fund a communication tower site, which will include a 10,000-square-foot fenced area with a backup generator and pad.
“This significant investment into Henderson County is great news,” Martin said. “The funds will help our community stay better connected and assist first responders during emergencies, improving public health and safety for residents and visitors. I thank TNECD for selecting this important project.”
TNECD approved $36.6 million in grants to 78 communities across the state for projects in categories including public health and safety, community infrastructure, community revitalization, water system improvements, and sewer system improvements.
“I thank the people involved in the application process for their hard work,” Haston said. “They delivered for our community, and I know the project is going to have an immense impact on Henderson County.”
The allocation of CDBG funds is based on priorities set through the public meeting process at the local community level. The CDBG program is funded through HUD and administered in Tennessee by the Department of Economic and Community Development.
State Rep. Brock Martin represents House District 79, which includes part of Carroll, Gibson and Henderson counties. State Rep. Kirk Haston represents House District 72, which includes Chester, Decatur and Perry counties and parts of Hardin and Henderson counties.
