Newbern Police arrest robbery suspects

NEWBERN PD ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECTS
On December 26, 2023 Newbern officers responded to the area of North Grayson Street in reference to a reported robbery. The male victim reported that he was approached by two male suspects. One of the suspects produced a handgun while the second suspect assaulted the victim. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the victim during the altercation. Based upon the investigation the suspects were identified as Domonic Watson (25) and Steven Harris (28) both of Newbern.
The NPD Criminal Investigations Division issued warrants for both suspects and they were taken into custody without incident on December 28, 2023. Harris is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, armed dangerous felonies, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Watson is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Both individuals are currently being held in the Dyer County Law Enforcement Center pending an appearance in Newbern Municipal Court.
Chief Greg Barr made the following statement. “The information gathered by responding officers on the scene, and the continued investigation by the NPD criminal investigation division led to the quick arrest of these suspects.” “Based upon the investigation, this was an isolated incident.”
