Hub Classic bringing city together for annual basketball tournament

JACKSON, Tenn. — Players and families from across West Tennessee have gathered for the 11th annual Hub Classic basketball tournament.

The tournament started Thursday and goes through Saturday night at Liberty Technology High School.

It features six girls’ teams and eight boys’ teams, with the games beginning at 10 a.m.

General admission tickets are available at the door for $10, and parking is free.

Concessions will be provided, and live musical entertainment by Kelsea Merriweather will be featured Saturday.

“We’ve raised a good amount, over a couple several thousand dollars on yesterday. so it’s a good turn out,” said Director of Operations Fred McKinnie. “We’re looking to raise at least, from general admission, about twelve to fifteen thousand dollars over the next three days.”

The tournament is organized by and raises funds for Area Relief Ministries.

Their program “Room in the Inn” partners with local congregations to provide homeless men with a safe place to sleep and a meal during the winter months.
