Church holds blanket drive for homeless

JACKSON, Tenn. – With temperatures dropping, a local church is taking action for those in need.

Aldersgate Methodist Church members held a blanket drive at RIFA Tuesday.

The blankets will be given to the homeless in the Hub City.

Pastor Chris Cooksey says the idea came to them when they were serving in the soup kitchen last week and a gentleman asked if there were any extra blankets.

Pastor Cooksey says it is not just a kind act to give back to those in need, but what they are called to do.

“It makes me feel joy to know that in all of the world and all of the darkness that people face, there is this light that we can help to shine. To let people know that God hasn’t forgotten about them, that their circumstance does not determine their ending. It’s just a starting point,” Cooksey said.

Pastor Cooksey says this isn’t the last time they will donate as they continue their mission to cover Jackson with Christ’s love.
