Steady Showers Diminish By Daybreak

Weather Update: Friday, January 5 —

Rain finally made it back to the West Tennessee this evening. Unfortunately it won’t be enough to really do much for the ongoing drought conditions. We need a good long  soaking steady rain for a couple days. The pattern we are in does not lend itself to really helping us in that endeavor as the last couple systems have been transient or progressive. All of that said the rain thats in place now will likely move on by about daybreak Saturday. We’ll likely spend a good part of the day in clouds, with breaks developing as high pressure and ridging begin to take shape. A new trough will already begin digging out of the Pacific Northwest and taking aim at the central and southern Plains which will eventually push another system in by Monday. Guidance has ben fairly consistent moving a fair ly deep surface ow nearby. With a strong gradient in place it’s likely it will become quite windy as the low deepens further late Monday into Tuesday.
