UPDATE: Family identifies victim in Sunday shooting as 18-year-old father

JACKSON, Tenn.—The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place this afternoon in the Hub City.

We first learned of the shooting from a WBBJ-7 Eyewitness News tipster who told us that they saw a heavy law enforcement and emergency medical services presence near the Walgreens on Campbell Street.

Upon arrival, we discovered officers with the Jackson Police Department and EMS at the intersection of Gillman Lane and Campbell Street.

The street was blocked off with crime scene tape and JPD officers were directing traffic.

According to JPD’s Public Information Officer, Stephanie Graham, on scene, they received a call at 12:50 pm of a shooting on Gillman Lane.

Graham informed us the individual succumbed to their injuries.

As of now, this is still an ongoing investigation.
