JMCSS Education Vision Committee meeting was held Tuesday morning
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County School System Board meeting was at 9 a.m. Tuesday at their central office.
It covered topics such as grant money and school resource officers. They also spoke on the recent public school security grant.
The majority of the money will go to upgrading camera systems. First responders can monitor those devices in times of crisis.
The governor mandated last year that all public schools had to have an SRO. The process of hiring and training officers is still ongoing.
“You know, technology changes, and the way people try to find a way around a level of security changes. So we’re constantly evaluating our protocols and how we do things. And we want to get better every day,” said Tim Gilmer, the Chief Support Services Officer at JMCSS.
Gilmer urges that school security takes everyone working together from first responders, to the Jackson Police Department, to parents.
