Thursday, we spoke to Leslie Jones with JEA who said on Monday, they are preparing their trucks and vehicles in advance of adverse weather conditions Sunday night.

They are also bringing in extra staff as well.

If power outages do occur, Jones said they would respond as quickly as possible.

They are also asking customers to do the following in preparation: make sure their vents are closed, exterior hoses disconnected from faucets, exterior faucets are wrapped or covered with insulated covers, water faucets are opened to slowly drip to avoid freezing pipes and more.

In case of power outages and sustained cold weather, Jones shared how you can prepare.

“They need to be sure that they have batteries ready for their flashlights, their phones are charged, have extra blankets and possibly an alternate heat source if it was to get extreme temperatures,” Jones said.
