Man arrested in connection to fatal shooting of 18-year-old

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department says a man has been arrested as a suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year-old.

Sunday, January 7 at Gillman Lane in midtown Jackson

The department says their officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert Sunday around 12:45 p.m. at the Gillman Lane and Campbell Street intersection, where officers arrived and found a gunshot victim.

The victim, 18-year-old Tyrese Hardin, died while officers attempted to conduct life-saving measures, JPD says.

JPD says that 28-year-old Joshua Jackson-Davenport was found to be the person responsible during the following investigation, and he was arrested later that same day.

On Wednesday, Davenport was formally charged with first-degree murder and arraigned in Jackson City Court and is being held without bond.

Jackson, TN -On 01/7/2024 at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Gillman Lane and Campbell Street for a ShotSpotter alert of 4 rounds fired. When officers arrived they located a victim, identified as Tyrese Hardin (18 years old), lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries while officers were on scene despite life-saving measures.
During the course of the investigation, Joshua Jackson-Davenport (28 years old) was developed as a suspect and was taken into custody later that day. On Wednesday, 1/10/2024 Joshua Jackson-Davenport was formally charged with First Degree Murder and arraigned in Jackson City Court. Davenport is currently being held without bond.
