Tennessee Education Lottery to celebrate 20th anniversary
JACKSON, Tenn. – Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the Tennessee Education Lottery.
This scholarship program provides financial support for Tennessee’s best high school students and encourages them to remain in-state for the duration of their college education.
More than $7 billion has been raised for education programs.
More than two million scholarships and grants, like the traditional Hope scholarship, have been awarded to students across the state.
Hundreds of K-12 after-school programs have been funded through this program.
“The more tickets we sell, the more dollars we raise. The more dollars we raise, the more students are impacted. So all in all, it’s been a great 20 years for students in Tennessee,” said Rebecca Paul, the President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery.
The Hope Scholarship, which is most recognized, started with one program and has expanded to six different programs.
It’s available to all entering freshmen with an ACT score of 21 or a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
