Pathways2Possibilities career expo held Thursday
JACKSON, Tenn. – More than 1,800 eighth-grade students from area schools gathered Thursday at the Jackson Fairgrounds to experience a variety of different paths that could help lead to a bright future.
The Greater Jackson Chamber, United Way, and the Jackson-Madison County School System hosted Pathways2Possibilities, a two-day career expo to introduce students to a wide range of careers.
Around 50 exhibitors, including local companies, higher education institutions, and some high schools set up displays for students to interact and receive information to start them on the right path to a successful future.
High-demand jobs and careers that were showcased included:

- Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources
- Architecture & Construction
- Arts, A/V Technology & Communications
- Business Management & Administration
- Education & Training
- Energy
- Finance
- Government & Public Administration
- Health Science
- Hospitality & Tourism
- Human Services
- Information Technology
- Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security
- Marketing
- Distribution, Logistics, & Transportation
“This year is so important because next year they are transitioning into high school where they’ll actually have to choose their pathway. And so we want to expose them now so they can begin to think about where they see themselves going in the future,” said Matt Marshall, the President and CEO of United Way of West Tennessee.
Organizers of the event say the outcome of the expo has been a success and they look forward to future events.
