Deputy injured after patrol vehicle struck by semi

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — A local sheriff’s deputy was injured in a crash Friday morning.

According to the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was traveling non-emergency on Highway 51 near the airport, when a semi truck pulled out in front of him.

Despite efforts to avoid a crash, the Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle struck the deputy’s patrol unit.

Authorities confirm the deputy sustained what’s believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The semi truck driver was not injured, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was named as the lead investigating agency in this incident.
