Jackson Budget Committee meets; snow plows among topics
JACKSON, Tenn. – The City of Jackson Budget Committee met Tuesday at City Hall.
Various topics were covered including a revenue report and a property tax report.
There were proposed budget amendments including a transfer of Jackson Police Department Insurance Recovery funds from general fund to capital outlay.
An item covering new paving equipment was approved on the first reading.
“We’re looking at some smaller plows to put on some trucks, and also brine equipment so we can put the brine in so we can pre-treat the streets, have that liquid there to activate the salt. And then we can take the containers out of our dump trucks and then put salt in there so we can put salt on top of the precipitation, whatever that may be, ice or snow that comes down,” said Jackson Mayor Scott Conger.
With over 475 miles of street and roughly 1,300 lane miles of street in Jackson, Mayor Conger states that the focus of these efforts will remain on arterial and collector streets.
