Jeep fundraiser being held for Sweet Jordan’s on Saturday

PARIS, Tenn. – Sweet Jordan’s is a local restaurant in Paris that plans on handing out ducks to their special customers on Saturday.

Sweet Jordan’s began with a family’s recipe of chocolate cookies that eventually turned into a bakery, ice cream, and coffee shop.

Their mission is to focus on the abilities and not the disabilities.

They provide jobs for over 20 workers who have special abilities spanning from kitchen prep, counting money, or even socializing with customers.

“But it’s all about what are they good at and how can we spotlight what they’re good at because their whole life people have told them what they are not good at. And we think there has to be a better way. So we like to say we focus on the abilities and not disabilities,” said Jessica St. John, who does public relations for Sweet Jordan’s.

A Jeep club in Nashville saw their story and wanted to help donate to support employing their special employees.

“It’s really been a movement that more Jeep clubs have joined in, and so we have 110 Jeeps coming tomorrow, Saturday. I think each Jeep has at least two people in it, so we’re expecting it to be a pretty large event,” Jessica  St. John said.

Sweet Jordan staff has worked to make sure this event goes to plan with even members of the community joining in.

There is an entry fee for the Jeep tour, but it goes towards keeping their special workers employed.

“With an economy like this, I know it’s hard on everyone. But because we have more employees than the average restaurant, we have more outgo because of what all we put into it. It’s made it more difficult, and we are so blessed they decided to help,” Jessica  St. John said.

Jordan St. John is happy for the support and shared what his favorite part of his job is.

“I really like to hang out with my girls,” said “Poppa” Jordan St. John, the owner of Sweet Jordan’s.

“You like to hang out with your girls. When you work here you’re one of his girls or daughters or sons,” Jessica  St. John said.

The trend to place a rubber duck on Jeeps began in 2020. So members that go to the event will receive a rubber duck.
