The event took place at 11 am at Aloha Pools and Spas located at 1400 West Reelfoot Avenue in Union City.

Participants were required to raise at least $75 to take the plunge.

Funds raised from the event will be used to help over 400 Special Olympic athletes take part in events across several West TN counties.

The goal for this year’s event was twenty thousand dollars.

“One of the things we’re really proud about is we’re a rural area plunge, but we’re probably number five in the state right behind the large cities, Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, we’re right up there with them in fundraising,” said Clinton Smith, Area Director at Upper West TN Special Olympics.

There will be more events to raise money for the Special Olympics in the future.
