JMCSS Board convenes for meeting

JACKSON, Tenn. – School board members met Monday for a board meeting.

Mayors AJ Massey and Scott Conger presented the board with gift baskets to show their appreciation to the board members.

As far as what was on the agenda Monday, the board discussed the Children’s Cabinet which is a collaboration of different departments in the community to help provide better education for local students.

The board brought up a Children’s Cabinet resolution that says they will support the cabinet and do what they can to help initiate the process.

There was also an amendment about charter schools to clean up wording to reflect the policy of the Tennessee School Board Association.

“The change was that it did not give a specific number of either the administrative team or community members so the thought was: let’s say that at least 25 percent of the review team should be from community members and that was the amendment,” said Dale Thomas, the attorney for the Jackson-Madison County School Board.

The amendment was approved by the board.
