Dr Chip Jones Jackson Tn ObituaryOwen Chester Jones II,DDS (Dr. Chip) age 70, passed away at his home, Thursday February 1, 2024.

He was born September 11, 1953 in Jackson, TN and preceded in death by his parents Dr. Chester Kawel and Gloria Lee Jones, one of his sisters, Karen Tyler Ervin and nephews Terry Welby Tyler Jr. and Lee Emerson Tyler. He is survived by sister Lucinda LauBach King (Jonathan), his beloved life partner of 25 years, Jeanette Waldrop, as well as his nieces and nephews: James Hugh LauBach, Jr, Kawel Bruce LauBach(Leslie), Chester Court LauBach(Alicia), Heather LauBach Goren, Courtney Tyler Shearer(Shay) and William Chester Ervin. His memory will be cherished by all of his surviving family and many friends.

 

Chip attended Battle Ground Academy and graduated from Jackson Central Merry in 1972 and Middle Tennessee State University in 1976, with a degree in Biology. Dr. Jones went on to study dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Upon graduating from Dental School he returned home to Jackson where he opened his dental office.

Dr. Jones practiced dentistry in Jackson for 30 years and after retirement continued to serve the dental needs of patients throughout the state of Tennessee. In addition, he spent many years volunteering at the Developmental Disabilities Clinic. He was a dedicated and devoted dental professional committed to excellent care and the well-being of his patients. He was described by his patients as gentle and caring and was highly regarded for his impeccable work. He leaves a legacy of enthusiasm, dedication and passion for his profession which spanned several decades.

Chip had a wonderful zest for life as evidenced by his diverse hobbies in his earlier years which included bull riding, tennis,sailing, scuba diving as well as setting a white water rapids record with buddies Chuck Cook and Robert Smith. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling with life long friends on hunting and fishing trips. Additionally, he will be remembered for his deep love of animals, especially the many rescue dogs he adopted over years with Jeanette.
