JMCSS celebrates National School Counseling Week
JACKSON, Tenn. – The first week of February is National School Counseling Week.
To celebrate, the Jackson-Madison County School Board gathered Friday at their central office to recognize district professional school counselors.
From pre-k through high school, counselors help students build communication skills, improve academics, and deal with emotions.
“I just love being a school counselor, and I’m really enjoying the successes that I’m seeing with my students. It’s a very rewarding field,” said Quin Stewart, a Professional High School School Counselor at Liberty Tech.
“The more counselors that we have, the better for mental health in general,” said Courtney Brown, a Professional School Counsellor at Northeast Middle School.
A counselor’s work impacts children beyond the school years, helping students prepare skills and applications for college, the workforce, the military, and more.
