Snow Melting Tuesday, Warm & Mild Most of the Week
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Some folks saw up to an inch of snow, some a wintry mix and some of us just a cold rain. The roads were quite slushy earlier but that is melting off quickly as temperatures have warmed up a couple degrees after the cold pool has cleared out. What a challenging forecast. We will have the latest details tonight at 10 PM on WBBJ & Eyewitness News. We are aware we are having some trouble with our satellite sending out both ABC and CBS and we hope to have it fixed in the next hour.

TONIGHT:
It was a cool and rainy day across West Tennessee for our Monday. We saw heavy rain and even a few weak storms, but as the cooler weather moves in tonight, there is a shot for a wintry mix or even some snow before we dry out after 10pm in Jackson. A few showers may linger until midnight across the Tennessee river. It will be a blustery night as well with the winds coming in out of the northwest between 10-20 MPH all night long.

Accumulations of snow or any major travel impacts are not expected. There could be a few spots picking up an inch of snow but that will not be the general forecast for most of West Tennessee. As the skies clear out tonight temperatures will fall down near freezing and some folks could dip down to around 30° as well kick off your Tuesday. Expect decreasing clouds after midnight.

TUESDAY:
Expect plenty of sunshine on Tuesday, but if the skies clear out in the morning, expect a cold start to the day. Most of West Tennessee will start the day below freezing but warm up to around 50°, near normal, but the early afternoon hours. The winds are forecast to come out of the west and be between 5-10 MPH most of the day. We are not expecting any precipitation on Tuesday. Tuesday night lows will be cool again and fall down to the low to mid 30s.

WEDNESDAY:
Wednesday looks like it is going to be a really nice day for all of us. Highs will make it up to around 60° and we are again expecting mostly sunny skies. The winds are forecast to come out of the southwest as high pressure builds on in to the south and west of us. The southwest winds are why we will be warming back up above normal for the middle of February. Wednesday night lows will be warmer than the previous few nights and drop down to the low 40s. There is no chance for rain across the region on Wednesday.
THURSDAY:
Thursday will be a lot like Wednesday but we should see more clouds during the day as the humidity will be increasing a bit due to some gulf moisture streaming on it. Expect a partly cloudy day and the winds will come out of the west. Highs on Thursday will reach the low 60s and Thursday night lows will drop to the mid 40s. We are not expecting any rain on Thursday but that will likely change on Friday.
FRIDAY:
The next system will be on the way on Friday. Friday will start out warm but cool down quickly towards the back half of the day after the cold front passes. We are going to see some rain transition to a cold rain and a brief wintry mix or light snow cannot be ruled out, it just doesn’t look like a sure thing as of now. We will keep an eye on that forecast as the week progresses. Highs on Friday will hit the upper 50s before falling down to around 30° by Saturday morning. The winds will shift from the west to the northeast as the day goes on. Chances for precipitation on Friday currently sit at 60%. Some showers may linger overnight into Saturday morning but we will likely be dry before the sun comes up Saturday.
THE WEEKEND:
We are looking at a cold start to the upcoming weekend with Saturday morning falling to around 30°. Highs on Saturday will only reach the low to mid 40s. We are expecting some clouds during the first half of the day on Saturday but they will clear into the afternoon making for a mostly sunny second half of the day on Saturday. The winds will come out of the northwest on Saturday. The winds will shift to the west on Sunday and temperatures will be a little bit warmer reaching the low 50s on Sunday. Sunday morning though is going to be cold with morning lows likely dropping into the upper 20s. Mostly sunny skies are also expected on Sunday and Sunday night lows will drop down to around freezing again to kick off next week.
FINAL THOUGHT:
A brief wintry mix or light snow will try to move in Monday evening but major travel impacts accumulations over a dusting are not likely. After tonight, quiet and mild weather will return for the majority of the work week with the next system coming in on Friday. The weekend will be dry, but it appears like it is going to be a cold weekend as well. We will keep an eye on the forecast on Friday as well as there is a chance we could see more than rain depending on where the temperatures are sitting Friday night.
