Changes in 2024 for Jackson’s McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.–Some changes are coming to a local airport.
Today, McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport management team held an important discussion regarding the upcoming runway reconstruction project at the airport.
This meeting was an opportunity for the community to engage with federal aviation administration representatives, project engineers, and contractors involved in this project.
The discussion focused on various aspects of the project, including runway closures, project phasing, and any potential impact on airport operations.
“We’ve been working on this for 20 years, knowing that it was coming. The last 5 years, it’s been in just about everything that we have done because it’s a big project. it bid out at 22 million dollars and its going to take 210 days to complete,” said Steve Smith, Executive Dirertor of the Jackson-Madison County Airport Authority.
Officials say community input and feedback are very important as they work towards successfully completing this project while minimizing disruptions to airport services.
The project will start in early March.
