Tips on lowering your risk of sports-related injury
JACKSON, Tenn. — While the big game is now over, if you’re trying to attempt some Super Bowl winning plays, here’s some information on how to lower your risk of injury.
The National Safety Council reports that in 2022, 3.6 million people were treated with sports-related injuries.
Whether these sports were recreational games or for a sports game, players have had common injuries from sprained ankles, knee injuries, and sore shoulders.
Ways to prevent being injured is sleeping the recommended time, staying hydrated, wearing compression-related clothing, seeing your doctor regularly, and stretching.
“You really need to stretch for two minutes to help that muscle get ready,” said Dr. Lisa Corsa with Premier Therapy Solutions. “And also dynamic warm-up stretches; high knees, jogging a lot of those great dynamic stretches that should be indicated for your sport.”
The National Safety Council also shared that ages 15 to 24 had the highest injury rate in 2022.
