Heavy weight champion from Jackson shares his story
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local young man is living out his dreams and isn’t letting anything stop him.
Logan Blake is from the Hub City and is currently making history as the first Southern Heavyweight Champion with Asperger’s autism.
Blake has dreamed of being a wrestler ever since he was young.
Blake says professionals such as the Miz, CM Punk, and John Cena are a few of his influences, as well as some Memphis based wrestlers.
“I went to a show that Jerry was at and my dad got in contact with somebody who would actually train me. And I just, those first few bumps or whatever it hurt but after all I was like “ok” I’ll stick with this,” Blake said.
Currently he is an independent wrestler where he holds the title of Heavyweight Champion.
“Well I am the champ, I need to stay humble. Go there with an open mind that anything will be thrown at me and try to stay safe,” Blake said.
As of now, Blake’s favorite part is the support from his Jackson community and hearing more people scream his name.
He also shares some important words to younger kids that may see themselves in him.
“Just being myself, just because you have this disorder doesn’t mean, you know you’re limited to anything, you can do anything you want to,” Blake said.
He says that even if he doesn’t make it to the pros, that he hopes to become a legend.
“I mean all these legends, and as a wrestler I can relate to them more now and I think it’s real exciting,” Blake adds.
Before Blake became a wrestler, he got his start as a referee for some local matches.
If you want to show some support for Logan, he has a match coming up on Friday, March 8, in Chester County.
